Rideau Street robbery suspect to be identified

UPDATE: SUSPECT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for the robbery of a drug store.

On October 6, 2015, at approximately 10:40 am, a lone male suspect entered a drug store on the 500 block of Rideau Street and approached a cashier. A demand was made for cash. The suspect indicated he had a gun though none was seen. The suspect was provided an undisclosed quantity of cash and fled the premises. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as being a male with a darker complexion, approximately 5′ 9”(175cm), 180 lbs (82kg), short black hair with some grey, and a black moustache. At the time he was wearing a windbreaker, blue jeans and grey shoes (images attached.)

Anyone with information with respect to this robbery, or any other robbery, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116.
