UPDATE: SUSPECT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.
The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s assistance with a the identity of a suspect in a recent bank robbery.
On October 20, 2015, at approximately 12:40 pm, a lone male suspect entered a bank situated along the 100 block of Richmond Road. The suspect, armed with a black handgun, made a demand for cash. The suspect obtained an undisclosed quantity of cash and then fled on foot. The suspect may have entered a green pick-up truck parked in an adjacent residential area. There were no injuries.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 6’1”(185cm), short hair, clean shaven. At the time he wore a dark coloured coat, possibly leather, jeans, and a dark baseball cap. The suspect carried a large military style, green camouflage backpack. (images attached)
It should also be noted that the suspect left the bank with an anti-theft device, commonly referred to as a “dye-pack”. The device was seen by witnesses to detonate as the suspect fled the premises. The suspect may have red dye on his person or clothing.
